Weighed & Measured

The space between Christmas and the New year has always been a period of reflection for me. As a younger person looking back on the year, I would focus on my list of shortcomings. Things I didn’t accomplish, and then put them on my list of resolutions for the New Year.

As I’ve gotten older I find that I focus less on what I didn’t do and more on what I’m grateful for. Grateful for those family members in my life who are loving and supportive. Blessed to have friends to laugh & cry with.

Thankful for the simple gifts each day has had to offer; sunrises, cool breezes, and the opportunity to begin again.

What has this year been like for you? What will you bring with you into the New Year?

Happy New Year

Um a mixture of a year, more positives than negatives but I’m eager to start 2014. Happy New Year to you and yours x

So much better to focus on things other than shortcomings. Lovely photos as always. I am carrying confidence from my journey in 2013 into 2014. Another great year lies ahead.

Yes, I like to focus on the good instead of the less good…but 2013 was not a great year…so moving on..
I love your photo’s. Those oranges look so yummy…I hope you enjoyed for eating as well as for photographing…
    Happy New Year.

  4. I think it is far better to focus on what is good in life rather than what isn’t, after all you can get yourself down with the bad as it weights more than light-hearted good.

I appreciate your look at life, I can’t say that when I was young that I gave this much thought, guess I was too busy or really not sure why. The reflection only came in my older years and has come on full blast. It seems I do a lot of reflection in the early morning hours and pondering what will be or could be in my life.

Thank you as always for making me look at the positive. Happy New 2014 it is a brand new slate to begin.

I love this post! The oranges are so fresh, just like the new year. And the scales are perfect for you theme. As we’ve discussed … it’s a choice. What we choose to focus on is up to us. If we focus on the negative, our whole lives will be negative. If we seek and choose the positive, the joy, the happiness, I believe contentment will find us. Happy New Year, my friend!
