Gardening In January – A pre-season game

With the holidays behind us and a new year in front of us, we gardeners have our sites set on Spring and the gardening season ahead.

It is the pre-season game of dreaming and planning… add to that a to do list of actions we can take now and well, who knows…could be your best garden ever! Here’s my to list for January:

  • Create a garden plan for the vegetable bed
  • Order vegetable seeds
  • Clean and sharpen hand tools; replace as needed
  • Buy new garden gloves (gives me an excuse to go to the nursery!)
  • Prune trees (best time as they are dormant now)

What does your to-do list look like? I’d love to know. Drop me a line. In the meantime,¬†happy gardening! xo

  1. I remember my Mom doing this with ordering and planning her yard for the spring. She also enjoyed it so much to look through all the catalogs and plan it out.

Me we are going to have another bad freeze for the next 3 to 4 days. I have most of my plants covered but I am going to lose plants. Just has made sick as it did when it happened 2 years ago. We are supposed to be in the low 20’s to teens here in Anthem. ugh

  2. I’m not much of a gardner, Carol … ok, not a gardner at all … I’m lucky to get the grass cut! But I love seeing what you are doing and oh, how I wish I was a beneficiary of your bounty!! My focus is getting work, but in the meantime, I’m enjoying playing with pictures, my favorite pastime, while a movie plays in the background.
