Beautifully Broken

Kim Klassen ‘pastel haze’ preset applied

It fell. It broke. I cried…

Not for the loss of the plate, but because the remains were so lovely.Tears began to well up as I realized…we are all beautifully broken.

  1. Oh no, such a beautiful plate. I am sure you were heart broken but this is a case of making lemons into lemonade and you did it so well. Beautiful composition, beautiful color and just love.

  2. This post made me smile…. what a wonderful way to look at this situation : )

That is such a lovely, lovely plate! Pity it broke, but I like how you chose to focus instead on how pretty the broken pieces looked. I love how you set up the photo!

Ah yes, broken can be beautiful. – Think of the Venus de Milo, and without our breaks where would we grow stronger? – JBV

We all have our imperfections don’t we? Your plate is beautiful broken too. Love your top down perspective and your positive attitude. 🙂

Thank you for this lovely reminder that broken can be beautiful. I would have cried and thrown away the plate, I’m afraid. We’re all fragile, and we’re all broken–and we’re all of infinite value . . .

It is such a beautiful plate but unfortunately nothing stays the same…it is sad when it is something that we love…but in the letting go you have made art with it one more time…sweet..

“Beautifully broken” makes me think of some of my favorite beach finds, those pieces of broken glass that have been sanded smooth by sand and waves, and shells broken open to reveal the intricate beauty inside. I figured out long ago that it was the broken places inside myself that had given me strength and taught me compassion. I was so sad to see your beautiful plate in pieces, but the beauty you created from it is breathtaking.
